Gideon Levy wrote this piece in Ha'aretz "Israel is Paranoid About Pro-Palestinian Activists" with the subheading "Israel will not stand idly by as thousands of activists prepare to arrive on Sunday; it will not miss an opportunity to look ridiculous in the eyes of the world."
Ha'aretz allows comments to its articles so I wrote this:
Adding to the storm of slander against Günter Grass, the Bloomberg columnist Jeffrey Goldberg attacks him for supposedly writing about the “vicious sins of the Jews”. The word “Jew” is not even in the poem and not implied there, but that doesn’t stop Bloomberg’s mudslinger. More seriously Goldberg derides Grass for being “delusional” in his poetic claim
A fitting answer to the unprovoked bloodletting in Gaza is starring us right in the face. The Egyptian parliament has passed a very hard resolution against Israel (see headlines) demanding that the treaty be "frozen" and Gaza be aided.
So do it.
The noxious Thomas Friedman praised Obama as the most pro-Israel president ever in the New York Times on 3/7. He supported Obama's supposed moderate line (giving "sanctions" time to work on Iran before blowing it to kingdom come).
It won't be so bad. Iran will restrain itself. The US will just lose some soliders in Afghanistan. That's the gist of the article by Ethan Bronner and company in today's New York Times.
They have so much oil. Isn't it incredibly suspicious that they're building nuclear power?
No, not Iran, but the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In December the Saudi family absolute monarchy (and homeland of the late Osama Bin Laden) announced a $100 billion nuclear power program.
Dear Jeffrey Goldberg: Just finished your "Israel Can’t Go It Alone on Iran Nuke Threat" on Bloomberg News.
Here's the comment I sent in:
The New York Times headline today (Feb.4) declares the mission of the inspectors to Iran was a "failure". Of course it was. The inspection was "deemed a failure" before it went. We can see the Iraq playbook at work here. Endless hysteria, questions, concerns. Note the IAEA people said nothing about their trip at al. We're supposed to rely on the word of some unnamed "diplomats".
